Here in the UK we have unusually high temperatures this week. And I’ve discovered fibro and heat aren’t friends so I’m doing my best to keep cool and not over do it. I’ve pulled open the nets to help with the air flow, I’m strategically drawing and opening curtains to prevent the rays warming the rooms, I’m staying indoors, wearing as little as possible and I’m avoiding the leather sofa as I keep getting myself stuck to it. I was pottering upstairs getting some little jobs done and figured the neighbours couldn’t see up here so whipped off my skirt. Only … Continue reading “What not to do in a heat wave”
The Mock Elections
Anyone who knows me knows I’m a bit of a Facebook addict. I bloody love it and can usually waste hours of my life trawling through the crap on there. But the closer we have got to the elections and the recent terror attacks through Europe and the Middle East, the more I see the worst in the people on there. To me politics and religion are alike, they shouldn’t be discussed in depth on social media. Everyone has had a different life journey and because of that their priorities and their core values can vary. I dont think its … Continue reading “The Mock Elections”
Friday night rituals
I think everyone has their Friday night rituals For some famed mums its “Fuck it all Friday” The kids eat junk food whilst mummy enjoys that well deserved glass of anything that contains enough alcohol to make the thought of the forth coming 2 days of enduring their husband and precious poppets under the same roof seem almost tolerable. For those under 25 or without kids its a night to get dolled up, hit the town and get twatted, rolling in at god knows what hour and probably waking up to someone you have absolutely no idea at who they … Continue reading “Friday night rituals”
Like Alice down the rabbit hole
I regularly wonder, have i gone mad? I guess so, but let me tell you something, the best people usually are! I often feel like alice? Falling down the rabbit hole, the world spinning past me. Try to make some sense of it all but the sense falls just beyond my reach. That’s where I am tonight. I think I fell down my rabbit hole along time ago and I saw my magic door. The journey of trying to run a business took me through ups and downs. I certainly cried my river a long time ago. That 10 years was … Continue reading “Like Alice down the rabbit hole”
Personalised knobs
With all the furniture and bedrooms I seem to have been decorating its been nearly impossible to accessories everything with the same themes. Its not that similar products aren’t out there, its just they cost an absolute fortune to get something that’s almost right. One of the hardest things to find has been draw knobs so with a few Youtube videos I figured out how to make my own. I found some plain white ceramic knobs on Ebay and printed the design onto decal paper. After 3 or 4 coats of protective polyurethane i soaked the designs and transferred them to the knobs. … Continue reading “Personalised knobs”
Cherry blossom tree
My sister has been having the world’s longest house extension. I don‘t mean her house is massive, I mean its taken forever!!! How she didn’t go stir crazy with all those builders in the house I don’t know! The worst bit about how long it’s taken is that it means my sister has spent hours and hours on Pintrest coming up with ideas about how fabulous her new home will be, but as always with these things, after she’s paid the builder’s fee she has champagne tastes and a lemonade budget. The other problem is she is not the most … Continue reading “Cherry blossom tree”
Not so crafty mum
When I was young I always dreamed of being a mum. Where some girls fantasise about their big white wedding my fantasies were of days filled with glitter and pritt-sticks, adventures in the woods, picnics of homemade delights and fun filled days educating them with in castles and museums. My reading out the signboards, their eyes glued to me, mesmerised as they learned the secrets of the world. Long before they appeared I had a draw full of soft cuddly clothes and tiny shoes. I knew no matter what it took in life I was going to be a mum … Continue reading “Not so crafty mum”
Is having a mini me a little too weird?
Finally this week I had some time where my energy levels picked up, I had the downstairs to myself (thank heavens for the Xbox at half term!) And I had the brain space to ignore all the things I thought I needed to do and decided to do something just for me. I broke out my sewing machine, chose one of the ninety billion fun fabrics I’ve been hoarding over the last few weeks and made myself a swing skirt. I chose a very simple design and made it by eye rather than trying to get my brain to concentrate … Continue reading “Is having a mini me a little too weird?”
Salt and vinegar Hula Hoops
Today’s been a crappy day! I’m out in the village and my shopping basket is being filled with junk food. That little voice in the back of my brain reminds me that I’m too fat already, but hey who cares, I’m pissed off already. Scanning the shelves and hoola hoops are on offer. My hand reaches for the plain and then I see the mixed bags. 2 plain 2 cheese and onion and 2 salt and vinegar. Why do they never skip the cheese and onion and put in the BBQ beef? Cos let’s face it these 3 are the … Continue reading “Salt and vinegar Hula Hoops”
Don’t cloud my sunshine
If you asked me to describe my daughter I’d tell you she is a confident blond bubble of energy, and sunshine. She is an amazing actress, her creativity at art is outstanding and she has the voice of an angle…. actually no, it’s not an angle, is the deep chilling voice of a 40 a day habit club singer, but at 13 trust me when I say it’s breathtaking. I often giggle and call her Bubble head as she has moments of the world completely passing her by without a flinch but all in all she is one of life’s … Continue reading “Don’t cloud my sunshine”
