My sister has been having the world’s longest house extension.
I don‘t mean her house is massive, I mean its taken forever!!!
How she didn’t go stir crazy with all those builders in the house I don’t know!
The worst bit about how long it’s taken is that it means my sister has spent hours and hours on Pintrest coming up with ideas about how fabulous her new home will be, but as always with these things, after she’s paid the builder’s fee she has champagne tastes and a lemonade budget.
The other problem is she is not the most artistic of bod so actually creating the look she wants is something that’s out of her comfort zone: Que asking favour of mad arty sister!
We did curtain shopping and paint swatches and then started thinking outside the box of how we could make their bedrooms unique to her kids.
The boy child was easy! Starwars!! No questions asked.
But for her little girl’s room she really wanted something pretty, but something that would be suitable as she grew up. She toyed with a woodland theme, or maybe a little more fairy and eventually it evolved into a pretty pink and mushroom decor with a tree mural on the wall.
She sent me over 9 or 10 completely different styles of trees she had seen and liked, but still couldn’t quite see in her mind how it would turn out. She knew what she didn’t want but had no idea how to explain what she did, so no pressure there then?!
It took me 2 visits to get the tree on the wall and decorated with cherry blossom.
Must say I was rather chuffed at the end.
She says her little lady adores it…. But how can you tell? The girls 3!
Just as long as mums happy that’s all that counts!
